Tying into this post, I think if one gets married under this current paradigm, you have to take SAHM off the table. I understand this might be challenging if you prioritize your children. But if you take SAHM off the table, and the wife continues to work at her “career” then if she frivorces you I would think she is going to have a much harder case demonstrating she needs to extract more financially out of you.
The alimony regime varies a lot by state, and even locally within states. But very generally, for non-SAHM situations, it is correlated with income differentials. So if the wife is outearned substantially by the husband, there can still be alimony awarded in states which award alimony on that basis. It will be less, however, than if the wife were a SAHM.
